Pre-School is the time when young people begin to recognize how they fit into a larger world.
Armed with an understanding of another culture, they will be far more aware of that world as they expand their knowledge and skills not to conquer the world but to guide it.

The core curriculum at YPW Spanish Immersion Preschool is designed to spark and maintain children's interest in Spanish by engaging them in creative and enjoyable cultural activities such as dancing, singing, cooking, art projects, and games.
Through total immersion, the children acquire the Spanish language naturally and easily as they master basic pre-school skills.

We follow a comprehensive, research based curriculum that develops children's minds and bodies through carefully selected and sequential learning experiences. Research suggests that the richer a child's environment, the more neural connections the brain will create. The lessons at YPW Spanish Immersion Preschool focus on using a multi-sensory approach to ensure that children absorb and remember what they are experiencing.

Young People will be taught in a manner that matches the way they develop and learn. The program will be guided by your child's needs. He/she will be challenged just beyond the level of his/her present ability and will be given constant opportunities to practice newly acquired skills.

KUMON WORKBOOKS

"There is nothing a child can't do."
That's the basis of the Kumon philosophy. And that's why at YPW Spanish Immersion Preschool we utilize Kumon workbooks in our Pre-School program.
In these workbooks, concepts are introduced in a step-by-step manner that allows your child to master each step in turn without getting frustrated. This gradual mastery enhances your child's confidence in his/her abilities and motivates him/her to learn on their own.
The Kumon "self-motivated-learning" approach guides your young Einstein through First Steps, Basic Skills, Math and Language arts.

YPW harnesses the expertise of certified, experienced teachers who are all native speakers of Spanish because we emphasize proper pronunciation and exposure to various aspects of Latin culture. These individuals are dedicated to your child's success and eager to get into his mind.

Early Pre-School (2-3 yr. olds)

At YPW Spanish Immersion Preschool your small child will delight in games, songs, and dance while establishing the building blocks of their future learning. Beginnning at the age of 2, we use colorful, appealing workbooks that engage the child in coloring, folding, pasting, and cutting. These "First Steps" KUMON workbooks build the child's confidence, boosting them on to greater accomplishments.

Mathematics is all around us and an understanding of basic math concepts begins early. As your young child explores our experienced teachers will incorporate numbers, measurements, and comparisons like counting out their snack, referring to the time, comparing the number of dishes to the number of children so that mathematics is learned as naturally as Spanish. Science concepts are incorporated in much the same way, with teachers engaging the children in conversations.

Let your child wiggle and giggle the minutes away and you'll be amazed at all the information he'll master.

Check out Chiquititos (Mommy & me Spanish language workshops) to further enhance your child's immersion experience. This is a great way to introduce your child to the pre-school, as reinforcement once they've begun, or as a special "extra" to their current routine.

Pre-School (3-4 yr. olds)

To them it's all new and our teachers direct that excitement and wonder with multi-sensory hands-on activities that help them to understand, remember and connect experiences.
YPW teachers use KUMON Basic Skills workbooks to guide them through the steps of tracing, coloring, drawing, mazes of increasing difficulty, cutting, pasting, and into amazing crafts.
Math and science skills are interlaced with their daily activities to help them make sense of their world. Doting teachers praise their every accomplishment with perfectly pronounced proclamations.

Pre-Kindergarten (4-5 yr. olds)

As your child begins to make sense of so much information his understanding grows.
KUMON workbooks in Math & Language Arts solidify a strong foundation.
Many of these are written in Spanish, reinforcing the language for visual learners while setting the stage for reading in Spanish.
At YPW we round out the math curriculum with the Building Blocks activities funded by the National Science Foundation.
Building Blocks activities are based on children's experiences and interests, with an emphasis on supporting the development of mathematical activity.
Hands-on science makes for messy fun and memorable lessons!
Cooking and gardening add the "I can help" factor which boosts the child's self-perception of his value to the family.
